In May of 2006 Nasir al-Sani', of the Muslim Brotherhood, declared that al-Shatti did not represent the Brotherhood in the government. This followed al-Shatti's decision to remain in the government during the May 2006 crisis over reducing the number of electoral districts. (Al-Qabas 20 May 2006.)
